Beelzebub
Getting Started

Installation Options

Choose the deployment mode that matches your lab or production environment.

./install.sh --docker
./install.sh --local
./install.sh --local --no-run

The installer can also be run interactively with ./install.sh. -y enables unattended prerequisite prompts. --plugin, --token, --uri, --github-token, and --ref configure plugins, optional Cloud reporting, private repositories, and the checkout ref.

Local Go Build

go run . plugin install --no-build
make build
./beelzebub run

Local mode requires Go 1.25.9, Git, and Make. The default examples include privileged ports; run as an appropriately isolated user or select a non-privileged service set.

Compose Directly

docker compose up -d --build
docker compose logs -f beelzebub

Compose builds declared plugins inside the image and mounts configurations/ and state/. Pass BEELZEBUB_GITHUB_TOKEN through the build environment for private plugin sources.

Helm

helm install beelzebub ./beelzebub-chart
helm upgrade beelzebub ./beelzebub-chart

Review and override the chart values before exposing a service. The chart mounts one core configuration and one service configuration into the pod; its service port must match the configured service address.

Upgrades

Pin Git checkouts, Docker image tags, Helm image tags, and plugin refs in controlled environments. Run beelzebub validate and a smoke test before switching traffic to a new runtime.

Beyond Beelzebub Runtime

The open-source runtime remains the foundation. You can deploy, extend, and operate it independently. Beelzebub Platform is the managed path for teams that need to coordinate deception across environments and connect runtime evidence to a broader security workflow.
